Par
Roll five dice with the goal of obtaining a score of 24 or higher to determine your "hit number". Roll the five dice with the aim of rolling as many dice with your hit number in order to achieve the most points.
Par
Goal: Keep your high dice and reroll your low dice to produce a score of 24 or higher and achieve a big score on your final throw.
Play: Any number of players can play but game play is best for 3-5 players. Five dice are required. A notepad or chips can be used to keep score. One player begins and play continues clockwise.
Player begins by rolling all five of their dice. After a roll, the player must set aside at least one dice and reroll the remaining dice. Once a dice is set aside it can no longer be rolled. A players turn ends when all five dice are set aside.
The object is to obtain the highest score possible with five dice, with the hopes of achieving a score of 24 or higher. 24 is considered par.
- If the score from all five dice is below 24, the player loses points equal to the amount below par.
- If the score from all five dice is 24, the player neither loses or gains points.
- If the score from all five dice is above 24, the number by which the player exceeds par becomes the player;s "hit number" for this turn. The player will roll all five dice, adding up all the dice that have the hit number; the player will record this as their score. For example, if a player scores a 27, their hit number will be '3'. The player will roll all five dice with hopes of obtaining as many 3's as possible. After the roll, if the player rolls two 3's, that player will record a score of 6.
A winner is determined by the player with the highest score. Alternatively, at the beginning of the game players can agree on a score that must be obtained before a winner is determined. Using a notepad, add or subtract points after each players turn until someone reaches the predetermined winning score.
SCORE KEEPING VARIATION
Instead of using a notepad to keep track of players scores, all players will start with a predetermined amount of chips. Play continues the same as above, however the points are after each turn will be distributed by chips by the following manner.
- If the score from all five dice is below 24, the player will give each player chips equaling the amount below par.
- If the score from all five dice is 24, the player neither loses or gains chips.
- If the score from all five dice is above 24, the number by which the player exceeds par becomes the player's "hit number" for this turn. The player will roll all five dice, adding up the dice that have the hit number; whatever this total is, all players will be required to give the player their chips totaling this score.
Once a player is out of chips they are out of the game. The last player remaining becomes the winner.
